Privacy Policy

Information we Collect and how we use it

Information you provide
When you sign up for Addie, we ask you for limited personal information (name and email address). This information is used for communication purposes between Addie (or Addie users who know and enter your email address) and you. Addie will not make your email address available to any user who did not previously know your address (by adding you as their Contact). Addie will also never sell or distribute your email address to any unaffiliated third party for marketing purposes.

Cookies
When you visit Addie, we send one or more cookies to your computer or other device. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service, including for storing user preferences, improving search results and ad selection, and tracking user trends, such as how people search. Our advertising providers (such as Google) may use cookies in their advertising services to help advertisers and publishers serve and manage ads across Addie.

Log Information
When you access Addie services via a browser, application or other client, our servers automatically record certain information. These server logs may include information such as your web request, your interaction with a service, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser or your account.

User Communications
When you send email or other communications to Addie, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services. We may use your email address to communicate with you about our services.

Additional Use
Your information may also be used to provide, maintain, protect, and improve our services (including advertising services) and develop new services; and protect the rights or property of Addie or our users. If we use this information in a manner different than the purpose for which it was collected, then we will ask for your consent prior to such use.

Information Sharing

Addie only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Addie in the following limited circumstances:

  • We have your consent. We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive personal information.
  • We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
  • We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Google, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.
  • If Addie becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will ensure the confidentiality of any personal information involved in such transactions and provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Information Security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, including appropriate encryption and physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data. We restrict access to personal information to Addie employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Items you Upload to Addie

Addie provides users the ability to upload, organize, view and share photos, files, and text. Unless you explicitly share one or a group of items with a specified person or group, no other Addie visitor or user will have access to your items or information. Another individual can view an item of yours in two cases: 1) you set the item as "Public" or 2) you add that individual as your Contact (by entering her name and email address) and share with him or her directly. A Contact of yours may see a non "Public" item of yours in the following cases:

  • You add that Contact to a Group, and then elect to share an item or group of items directly with that Group
  • You create a Folder, elect to share that Folder with your Contact, and then add an item or a group of items to that Folder
  • You create a Folder, add an item or a group of items to that Folder, and then later elect to share that Folder with your Contact.

Addie relies on Amazon's Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for the storage of items you upload. For additional details, please review the Amazon S3 documentation here.

Items in Shared Folders

When Addie users elect to share their items via a Folder, they should be aware of the following:

  • Every member of a Shared Folder you created will have access to every item you add to it.
  • Every member of a Shared Folder you are a member of (but did NOT create) will also have access to every item you add to it.
  • "Access" means that other users may view, download, and comment on an item.
  • Whether you created a Shared Folder or not, it is your responsibility to know who the members of that folder are when you add items to it.
  • Addie does not take responsibility for unintended item sharing. Share at your own risk.

If someone shares a Folder with you, you automatically become a member of that Folder. You can choose to remove yourself as a Folder member at any time by deleting that Folder. In such a case, your items will be removed from the Folder, and the remaining members of that Folder will no longer have access to those items. However, any download or access of any of your items by a Folder member BEFORE you remove yourself and your items from that Folder, is solely your responsibility.

If someone shares an item with you, you can remove your access to that item in two ways: 1) you can unshare the individual item or 2) you can delete that individual as your Contact. Note that when you delete a Contact, ALL items shared with you by that Contact will become inaccessible to you.

Social Networking Sites

We may share the information in your account (including your personal information) with the SNSs that you have linked to your account. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only for this purpose (unless the SNS has received your Personal Information independently of the Service) and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
